SUMMARY:Kate Kendell
DESCRIPTION:We Welcome\, Kate Kendell \nOn Sunday February 7\, La Selva Beach Community Church will celebrate ten years as an Open & Affirming congregation. What better way to celebrate the decision to issue an explicit welcome to all individuals\, than by hosting Kate Kendell?\nIf you haven’t had a chance to hear Kate\, this is an opportunity you won’t want to miss. As Executive Director for the National Center for Lesbian Rights\, Kate Kendell has worked tirelessly as an advocate for civil rights. So much so that in 2010\, she was named a “woman who could be president” by the League of Women Voters of San Francisco. \nIn addition to hearing from Kate\, we will honor youth leaders who have stood up for equality and justice in their school communities. Please join us to thank Kate for her dedication to working for the civil rights for everyone.

SUMMARY:Circles of Christian Living
DESCRIPTION:The Circle is a place in the church community where interested people get together to explore a range of issues related to following a Christian path. It is not a group therapy session or an extended discussion of personal problems. Nor is it primarily a social occasion\, we do not serve food or drink. We explore Christian spirituality\, its application to our personal lives and to our engagement with the wider world we inhabit. It is a small\, supportive group; a safe environment for “spiritual conversation”. We hope to provide a source of support for individuals in their personal struggles with matters of faith and practice. Our meetings are led by members of the group on a rotating basis\, with the facilitator providing a brief reading\, reflection\, or question to focus the discussion for the evening. Please contact Sue Lawson or Bob Strayer for meeting dates\, time and location. Newcomers are welcome.
