Braiding Sweetgrass
June 14 @ 11:30 am
I’d like to invite you to read one of my
two favorite books with me: Braiding
Sweetgrass, by Robin Wall Kimmerer.
(The other book is a childhood favorite
about a girl with a sword.) Braiding
Sweetgrass puts into words many of the
Indigenous teachings that inform my life,
work, and spiritual pracFce. I’d like to
read it together as an opportunity to
share with you a resource that buoys my
spirit when the world feels like too
much.
Robin Wall Kimmerer is a Potawatomi
botanist, author, and professor at the
State University of New York College of Environmental Science and
Forestry. Her book weaves together tradiFonal Potawatomi and
scienFfic knowledge, giving voice to the natural world, and deepening
our understanding of our place within it. She is an incredibly giPed
storyteller, and I encourage you to consider listening to the audiobook,
as her voice makes the stories she tells come even more alive.
